Acetone & MEK Solvents
High-purity acetone for cleaning uncured resin from tools/rollers/brushes; MEK (methyl ethyl ketone) for tougher cured residues. Fast-evaporating, non-residue; acetone safer/less aggressive than MEK. Bulk 20L drums or 1L tins; ventilate well, gloves essential. Preferred over thinners for precision cleanup. Available in 20L down to 500ml sizes.
Styrene Monomer & Thinners
Styrene monomer thins polyester resins (5-10% max to avoid brittleness); universal thinner for brushes/tools. Low-odor grades available; flammable, store cool. Use sparingly to maintain resin strength; test viscosity before layup. Essential for hot weather thinning.
Wax Mould Release Agents
Carnauba-based mould release wax for mold surfaces; apply 3–5 thin coats, buff between. Prevents resin adhesion on plugs/molds; reusable 10+ pulls. Ideal for polyester laminates; compatible with gelcoat. Reapply after sanding; marine-grade for boat molds.
Liquid Wax Release
Brush-on or spray liquid wax for quick mold prep; cures to glossy barrier. 2-3 coats, dry 10 mins between; superior release vs paste for complex molds. PVA overcoat optional; low-build for fine details.
